FUTD Phase 3 testing update - playoffs, stats, timeline and more!
This is our longest testing phase to date!

Hello!
Phase 3 testing (MLS) is under way! This is our longest testing phase yet, lasting 13 gameweeks including the playoffs.
We’ve been busy since Phase 2. We used the Club World Cup to develop a new tournament format which has been incorporated into Phase 3 through the playoffs after the end of the regular season.
Here's an overview of some of the new things in Phase 3 👇
Playoffs
It wouldn’t be MLS without the playoffs and this presented us with a challenge - how to transition a league format into a knockout format to finish the season.
Our solution for Phase 3 is to have a league phase of 11 gameweeks including the Wildcard round and Round One of the playoffs.

After this, eight teams will enter the quarter-finals of our playoff format. Two semi-finals and a final will follow to crown a champion. All H2H ties, the winner goes through.
To account for the dwindling number of teams as each round of the playoffs progress, teams go from 11-a-side to 5-a-side from the Quarter-Finals onwards. This includes an auto-select function to prevent ghost teams.
Stats
No fantasy game is worth its salt without stats. We always knew that, but hadn’t gotten round to adding them to FUTD in a meaningful way until now.
Find detailed player stats in the lobby of your league. We plan on integrating even more stats throughout the app.
Timeline
Timeline is a new way to view the major match events that have happened during a H2H fixture.
Match events such as goals, assists and red cards are now logged in chronological order in the Points page (see the ‘Team’ and ‘Timeline’ tabs).

Bidding budget
Feedback from Phase 2 of testing made clear the need for a bidding budget, which we have now added.
Users will now only be able to make bids to the value of 150% of their current budget. Users will be able to cancel bids when they hit the bidding budget limit.
Staggered deadlines
We will have staggered transfer deadlines for Phase 3.
This is in preparation for permitting league admins to choose their own transfer deadline. We are testing our system’s ability to handle multiple different deadline times.
Squad info
We have added information on the performance of the squad players not included in your team. This can be found below the pitch in the Points page.

Team names
We have now added team names. Users can enter and edit their team name through the menu in the top right of the lobby page.
