New format, more leagues, dark mode - September 26 dev blog
We've been busy working on a number of big changes for 2027!

It’s been a hot minute since we updated you on the development of Fantasy UTD, so let’s change that right now.
We have been very busy since the end of the World Cup. As I detailed in our last dev blog, this summer’s tournament was an incredibly valuable learning experience that I believe will help point us in the right direction.
Our MLS game is still running with thousands of active users playing the game every week.
On top of this, our group of committed testers (FUTD Ultras) are providing constant feedback on their experience. This has been key in shaping our game to this point. We couldn’t have made it this far without their help.
New format
Our biggest development focus right now is a new format which we hope will be ready for the start of 2027.
So far, we have operated just one format which will be known as Transfer Market in the seasons to come. This is a format designed for fans who desire an in-depth, fully involved fantasy experience. A format for the sickos.
We strongly believe Transfer Market is a viable fantasy soccer format which is already enjoyed by thousands of users. We will continue to tweak and improve it for 2027.
However, it’s clear there is also space in the fantasy soccer landscape for a simpler format. Something to fill the space vacated by MLS Fantasy.
This is what we’re working on at the moment. Watch this space.
More leagues
To date, FUTD has featured MLS and the men's World Cup. We also tested using the Club World Cup last year before launching to the public for the start of 2026.
We are working on introducing at least two more leagues in 2027. We’ll confirm which leagues towards the end of the year. Sorry to be a tease.
FUTD was always intended to be a multi-league, multi-format fantasy soccer hub and we’re firmly on the path to achieving this.
Dark mode
Users of the FUTD app might have noticed the introduction of dark mode in our latest update.
This was one of the most commonly requested features since the launch of FUTD at the start of the year and so we’re delighted to finally satisfy those managers who prefer to give their retinas a rest while picking their team.

Liquid Glass
As well as dark mode, our latest app update included Liquid Glass for the first time.
Of course, this only applies to iOS devices and is only an aesthetic update. It doesn’t change the function of the FUTD app in any way.
Nonetheless, we think this is a nice improvement for managers with iPhones.

Incorrect data
Some managers might have noticed a handful of scoring errors in recent gameweeks.
These were errors made by our data providers and we have been frustrated by their occasional refusal to correct errors when they are made.
This is sometimes due to a different definition of what constitutes a certain match event. Some of these definitions haven't made a lot of sense to us.
To address this, we have built a mechanism that now allows us to correct incorrect data without involving our data providers in any way. Problem solved.
A deeper fantasy soccer game, born in the US and built for the world.
